Outpatient appointments

We aim to make your outpatient experience as seamless as possible. Below is a concise guide to booking, changing, and managing your appointments.

Booking your appointment

If your GP has referred you, you can use the聽聽to choose the place, time and date for your first appointment.

Your GP can book it while you’re at the surgery, or you can book yourself:

Changing or cancelling appointments

Please let us know as soon as possible if 聽you need to change or cancel your outpatient appointment or update your contact details, by completing聽 the form below. We will contact you to confirm the changes and aim to answer all requests within 24 hours of submission.

Change Your Appointment

You can also call the number provided in your appointment letter. If you don鈥檛 have your letter, search for contact details via our A-Z of services.

Video Appointments

You may be asked by a member of our booking team if you would like to use our video consultation service for your outpatient appointment.

The decision to offer this type of appointment will be made by a medical professional depending on your individual care needs.

Patient initiated follow-up (PIFU) appointments

If your condition is stable, you may be eligible for PIFU, allowing you to book follow-up appointments as needed, rather than attending routine check-ups. Your healthcare provider will discuss if this option is suitable for you. For more information please see Patient initiated follow up appointments.

Using the St George’s Patient Portal App My Care to manage your appointment

MyCare St George鈥檚 Patient Portal offers a convenient and user-friendly solution for patients to take control of their appointments and access appointment letters online. Through a responsive website accessible from both desktop computers and mobile devices, patients can easily manage their healthcare schedule.

Attending your appointment

You’ll receive a letter with the details of your appointment, including directions to the hospital or health centre. Maps will be provided to help you navigate to the correct location, and volunteers are available at St George鈥檚 and Queen Mary鈥檚 Hospitals to assist you.

If transport has been arranged, notify the patient transport team at 020 8725 0808. This helps us offer your slot to another patient.

Cancellations by the Hospital

Occasionally, we may need to cancel appointments due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologise for any inconvenience and will reschedule your appointment as quickly as possible.

Overseas visitors

Overseas patients may be charged for treatment unless exempt. Contact the overseas patients department at 020 8725 3439 for more information.
